My Journey in Frontend Development
March 10, 2025 5 min read
#Hello! 👋 Let me tell you a bit about my experience.
When I started learning frontend development, I felt overwhelmed by the amount of technologies and tools available. I took many short courses about animations and visual effects without fully understanding the fundamentals. But I have to admit—I loved it. Watching pages come to life with styles and animations fascinated me.
During the pandemic I decided to study Software Development at university. We started with the basics: programming logic, algorithms and, of course, frontend fundamentals—HTML, CSS and JavaScript. While some classmates leaned more toward backend or software architecture, I followed a different path: visual and interactive design.
##My first steps with code 👨💻
Learning to code is like learning a new language. At first you write code without fully understanding what it does, but over time everything starts making sense. One of the first programs we all write is the classic:
console.log("Hello world!");
#The push I needed 🚀
I didn’t learn everything alone—I had a lot of help along the way. Pedro introduced me to the world of development (even though he later moved into backend 😆). Then Andrés came along, guided me through React and gave me my first frontend work experience.
Learning React was a turning point. I went from building static pages to creating interactive apps with state management, reusable components and dynamic routing.
##What I do today and where I’m headed ✨
Today I build with Next.js and I’m always looking for ways to improve my creativity. Frontend isn’t just code—it’s also design, animation and user experience. That’s why, besides coding, I’ve been learning Figma, Photoshop and Illustrator to improve my designs.
If you ask me what I enjoy most about frontend, I’d say it’s the mix of logic and creativity. Being able to turn an idea into something functional and visually appealing is what I enjoy the most.
If you’re learning frontend, don’t get frustrated by how many technologies there are. Start with the basics, enjoy the process and, above all, build projects. Nothing teaches more than hands-on practice.
Thanks for reading! 👨💻✨
